Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The manuscript is delivered in American English.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- All image files (illustrations, figures and so on) are submitted as separate files in the following formats: CDR, AI or EPS.
- ORCID iD, current institutional affiliation and biographical data shall be included (via settings in the 'Public' tab in the author's profile page).
- The abstract includes following aspects: (1) introduction: background, purpose/aim, problem, (2) specific/basic details: methodology and context of the study, (3) results and research findings, and (4) discussion (how the study contributes to the field
- The text includes the AI declaration statement (a disclosure of the use of AI, including the name of the AI Tools used, the purpose of the use, and the extent of their oversight).
Scientific Papers

Scientific papers from a wide range of media and communication disciplines; research from Central and Eastern Europe and beyond.
- Papers submitted to this section are peer-reviewed (double blind review).
- Manuscripts shall be no longer than 7000 words (notes and reference list included).
- Manuscripts shall include an abstract of 100–150 words as well as the list of five keywords (the abstract is not included in the limit of 7000 words of the main body of the text).
- Authors shall include ORCID iD as well as current institutional affiliation.
- Biographical data of max. 50 words and complete postal address (including e-mail address) shall be enclosed.
- All correspondence related to publication shall be addressed to journal@ptks.pl.
Methods & Concepts

Papers on emerging theories, methodologies and research design; sharing experience from research projects.
- Papers submitted to this section are peer-reviewed (double blind review).
- Manuscripts shall be no longer than 7000 words (notes and reference list included).
- Manuscripts shall include an abstract of 100–150 words as well as the list of five keywords (the abstract is not included in the limit of 7000 words of the main body of the text).
- Authors shall include ORCID iD as well as current institutional affiliation.
- Biographical data of max. 50 words and complete postal address (including e-mail address) shall be enclosed.
- All correspondence related to publication shall be addressed to journal@ptks.pl.
- Each author receives one printed copy of the issue of “Central European Journal of Communication” with the published article.
Interviews

Interviews with experts (media scholars and practitioners) on current trends in research and practice of communications and the media.
- Interviews shall be no longer than 4000 words (notes and reference list included).
- Authors of the Interview shall include ORCID iD as well as current institutional affiliation.
- Authors of the Interview shall also include ORCID iD, current institutional affiliation as well as biographical information of the interviewee.
- All correspondence related to publication shall be addressed to journal@ptks.pl.
Book Reviews

Reviews of books and other scientific publications; research from Central and Eastern Europe and beyond.
- Book Reviews shall be no longer than 1500 words (notes and reference list included).
- Authors of the Book Review shall include ORCID iD as well as current institutional affiliation.
- All correspondence related to publication shall be addressed to reviews@ptks.pl.
Events

Events and conference reports from meetings and conferences of the Polish Communication Association and other scientific associations.
- Papers shall be no longer than 500 words (notes and reference list included).
- Authors shall include ORCID iD as well as current institutional affiliation.
- All correspondence related to publication shall be addressed to journal@ptks.pl.
Copyright Notice
- Submission of manuscript is equivalent to the statement that the author is entitled to copyright to the manuscript, that the manuscript is free of legal defects.
- The contributor shall be responsible for securing any copyright waivers and permissions as may be needed to allow (re)publication of material in the manuscript (text, illustrations, etc.) that is the intellectual property of third parties.
- The paper acceptance is constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism.
- The use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation needs to take into account the Authors’ responsibility for the contents of their work. In particular, Authors should: (1) carefully review and verify the accuracy, comprehensiveness, and impartiality of all AI-generated output (including checking the sources, as AI-generated references can be incorrect or fabricated); (2) edit and adapt all material thoroughly to ensure the manuscript represents the authors’ authentic and original contribution and reflects their own analysis, interpretation, insights and ideas'(3) ensure the use of any tools or sources, AI-based or otherwise, is made clear and transparent to readers' (4) ensure the manuscript is developed in a way that safeguards data privacy, intellectual property and other rights, by checking the terms and conditions of any AI Tool that is used.
- Authors must check the terms and conditions of any AI Tool that they use to ensure that the privacy and confidentiality of their data and inputs is maintained.
- Authors should disclose the use of AI Tools for manuscript preparation in a separate AI declaration statement in their papers upon submission and a statement will appear in the published work. Authors should document their use of AI, including the name of the AI Tool used, the purpose of the use, and the extent of their oversight.
- Authors should not list AI Tools as an author or co-author, nor cite AI Tools as an author.
- We do not permit the use of Generative AI or AI-assisted tools to create or alter images in submitted papers. The only exception is if the use of AI or AI-assisted tools is part of the research design or research methods. If this is done, such use must be described in the methods section.
- Each contribution is made freely accessible on “Central European Journal of Communication” website.
